Enjoy the Arts of Edina
If you missed out on Edina’s Annual Arts Fair this past June and September’s Open Streets on 50th still seems too far away, curb your artistic cravings this weekend with a heaping helping of the Uptown Art Fair. The event kicks off at 12:00 PM Friday, August 4 and runs through Sunday, August 6 and promises to be one of the Twin Cities’ top summer picks.
Visitors can enjoy Uptown’s signature, specialty shops, corner cafés, Sculpture Garden, and access to nearby Lake Calhoun, plus more than 350 artists along Hennepin Ave. and Lake St. Yup. You heard that right. In addition to the fixed appeal of Uptown, the weekend ahead draws over 350 artists and artisans who specialize in 2-D and 3-D Mixed Media, Photography, Sculpture, Ceramics, and more. A Culinary Arts Competition also runs through the weekend, featuring pairings of Twin Cities chefs and artists who will turn secret ingredients into eye-catching, mouthwatering works of art.
If you’re more about consumption than observation, three beer gardens and more than twenty-four food vendors will be featured across the fair’s span, plus live music for you to kick back and enjoy your BBQ … or Falafel … or Fro Yo … or … oh, just have a bit of it all! There will also be hands-on art activities for the whole family—keeping even the shortest of attentions engaged.
Accessing the fair is easy, too, with free Metro Transit being offered on both Saturday and Sunday (hooray for hassle-free access), or you can take the 5.5-mile bike ride and enjoy complimentary bike valet at the intersection of Humboldt Ave. and The Mall. Either way, be sure to download a map in advance to help navigate the sights, sounds, and flavors one of summer’s surefire, hottest happenings.
